What, where, how and when?
Tampere will be the official host city for The 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship played at the brand new Nokia Arena between May 12 and 28, 2023. Tampere co-hosts the tournament with Riga, the capital of Latvia. Both cities will host one group in preliminary round, and quarterfinals, but from semifinals onwards the games will be played in Tampere. The whole city will experience hockey atmosphere as there will be side events organized by the community, restaurants, cafés and shops.

Home of Hockey zone
The Home of Hockey zone you can attend various activities and watch hockey games from screens. The activity area is family friendly, free of charge and open during the whole tournament.12–28 May. All the championship games played in Tampere will be screened at the area. Hockey fans can test their skills in the area with activities such as puck shooting, ring toss and e-sports video games. The area also hosts daily hockey-themed quizzes and competitions. The event area is located right in the heart of Tampere, between the Central Square and Frenckell Square.
Fan Zone
Close to the Nokia Arena, right next to the Tampere Railway Station, you can find the official Fan Zone. There you will find fan merchandise, food stalls, tournament’s partners booths, and a children’s tent with fun activities. The Fan Zone also hosts a daily quiz where you can win tickets to the hockey game of the day! All of the hockey games can be watched on giant screens both in the general fan zone area that is accessible to everyone, and also in the main tent which is restricted from people under 18 years of age. In the main tent you get to enjoy the authentic hockey atmosphere with beverages, as it features a bar and a stage with live music performances.
The organizers’ second official event location is Sori Square, where you can watch all of the Finland’s games. Sori Square is restricted from under 18 year olds as it sells alcoholic beverages all day.
Kesäkeidas – Summer Terrace and Restaurants
The Kesäkeidas Summer Terrace in the city center is a magnificent terrace with 500 seats. You can enjoy a wide range of restaurants and watch all the games played in Tampere on the big screen.
How do I get to the Arena?

Admission tickets for the matches of the 2023 Men’s World Hockey Championships played in Tampere include the right to travel on public transport Nysse.
With the match ticket you can travel on public transport buses and trams in the Tampere region and on trains in the Nysse area (Tampere/Lempäälä/Nokia/Orivesi/Tesoma) on the day of the game. The right to travel is valid in all zones from 6 am until the next night at 4 am on the day of the game. The match ticket is valid in all zones and no separate night fare will be charged.
A separate Nysse ticket is not required. Confirm your right to travel each time you travel.
