a) the name used by the ancient Egyptians for their own country

( Kemet , black land), which refers to the nutrient-rich, dark and fertile silt brought by the annually flooding Nile, which made agriculture and life possible along the river. b) the name used symbolically by modern man for his own planet, where daily news streams flood in about natural disasters and wars, about the subjugation of individuals, nations and herds, about growing inequality and injustice, about anger, sorrow and distress, and where everyone tries to survive towards a future that may no longer be possible. faith.

The exhibition brings together and concludes my four-year work on an imagery inspired by Egypt. Over the past year, I have been thinking a lot about loneliness and survival, and how it affects and manifests itself psychologically, physically and structurally on both societal and personal levels.

In my works, I often deal with emotional experiences and their

persistence

throughout time and society. How do certain emotions and experiences, such as shame, fear, loneliness, the need to be accepted and loved, affect us all, regardless of social class, origin, place of residence or era? I work with different painting techniques. In my work, it is important for me to find out what a work needs to reach its full potential? How to choose the right material, base or form for the work so that they support the content of the work and vice versa. “And even today where the planet is dark, there still is hope. Anna Korpilinna (b.1984 Helsinki) is a visual artist who has recently moved to Tampere, painting pictures of moments that were, moments that could have been, and moments that may never have been. She graduated as a painter from the Free School of Art in 2021. 

Korpilinna mainly works with different painting techniques, but also uses other materials and three-dimensionality.
