Timo Viialainen (b. 1981) works in the fields of visual art, performance art and sound art. His artistic production is embodied in sculptural works that activate viewers, as well as performances that utilize sound elements. As a performance and sound artist, he has appeared at numerous events in 22 different countries.

He is fascinated by contradictions and contrasts. In visual art, he is fond of physical, time-resistant materials, such as various metals, stones and ceramics, which he sometimes combines with phenomena produced using, for example, electromagnetism. As a performing artist, he is interested in the activation of space and situation that occurs in the moment.

Viialainen's works are in the collections of the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Fund and Kiasma. He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in 2021. Galleria Mältinranta's exhibition PALA consists of sculptures using materials such as steel, aluminum, dead insects, electronics, electromagnetic phenomena, neon flame lamps, baking soda and salt. The salt lump in the exhibition can be touched with the tongue.
