On Monday of the silent week, the saxophone plays darker and brighter tunes in the skillful interpretations of saxophonist Kalle Oittinen. Music by composers Bach, Berio and Britten. Free admission.

On Monday of the quiet week, the saxophone plays darker and brighter tunes in skillful interpretations by saxophonist Kalle Oittinen. The program includes J.S. Bach's Solo Cello Suite arranged for saxophone, Luciano Berio's Sequenza, and Benjamin Britten's Six Metamorphoses after Ovid. Oittinen (born 1988) is one of Finland's leading classical saxophonists and saxophone teachers from Tampere. He has been a guest soloist with various orchestras and works, among other things, as a chamber musician as a member of the saxophone quartet Aava and TampereRaw. He is a prize winner in an international saxophone competition and has also received recognition for his work for the benefit of saxophone playing. Oittinen is the second artistic director of the Pirkanmaa Saxophone Festival. The beautiful, resonant sound of the saxophone combined with the beautifully lit church and its sounding acoustics create a touching setting for an atmospheric concert experience. The lone saxophone tells its stories in a concert where one can just close ones eyes and relax.
