What stories, patterns or symbols would you like to carry with you?
Become part of the TREASURES: TAMPERE > OLOMOUC installation and spend a day under the guidance of Czech jewellery artist Eliška Pecháčková, designing and creating your own unique silver pendant or necklace. During the workshop, you will design and make your own piece using a wax modelling technique and have the option to complement it with Bohemian garnets. The jewellery will be cast in 925/1000 silver at the Konečný family goldsmith’s workshop in Olomouc. The finished piece will be sent to the participant.

TREASURES: TAMPERE > OLOMOUC installation at TAD Week
The Czech city of Olomouc and Tampere have been twin cities for 40 years. The City of Olomouc organises themed cultural years that introduce different cultures to the people of the city. This year, Olomouc is celebrating a Finnish Season. It was opened with a kinetic, site-specific installation by Tampere-born, Prague-based designer Saila Hastrup. The installation visually connected the two twin cities and presented Czech contemporary jewellery as a carrier of closeness, care and shared values.
At TAD Week, the installation presents modern silver jewellery made using traditional craft techniques and featuring Bohemian garnets. A mineral originating from Czech soil, the Bohemian garnet is a small piece of Bohemia’s geological and cultural history and has been used in jewellery for more than 1,000 years.
The jewellery has been created by Olomouc-based Elazolo / Eliška Pecháčková, one of the distinctive voices in contemporary Czech jewellery design. Born into a family of goldsmiths, she studied goldsmithing and scenography. Today, she continues her family’s craft tradition in her own way.
She creates jewellery in small collections and deliberately uses techniques that, unlike industrial production, do not allow the same piece to be reproduced. The collection is raw yet delicate. So are the garnets used in it. They are uncut, and each one is unique.
