A lecture about assisted dying in films, including a screening of documentary film "Jackie the Wolf".

Assisted dying is a divisive subject, which we explore through the personal meanings constructed for it in documentary films. The speakers will be documentary film director Tuki Jencquel and Outi Hakola, Docent of film and cultural studies (University of Eastern Finland). The film Jackie the Wolf (2023) by Tuki Jencquel will also be screened as part of the Mortal Culture event.


The event is in English, and the film is subtitled in English.


The lecture will be held in the Music Hall of Kulttuuritalo Laikku. Admission to the event is free.


The lecture is part of the Kuolevainen cultural event. The event is being developed by a team consisting of artists, employees of the Tampere parishes, researchers, experts, and independent cultural actors. The lecture series is curated by researcher and docent Outi Hakola (University of Eastern Finland / University of Helsinki).
