MIMIK is a photo exhibition consisting of double images by multi-artist Virpi Eronen; the photographer places himself in the same emotional state and emotional landscape as classic paintings and celebrities.
At the beginning of 2020, photographer Virpi Eronen was inspired to shoot and construct double images alone while at the cottage during the corona virus. At first, he depicted old paintings of red-haired women and himself in the same atmosphere. Filming takes place with the tools and equipment found at home. The classics of Da Vinci, Carolus Duran, Van Gogh, Schjerfbeck and Gallen-Kallela took on the shape of the 21st century.
Through the pictures, he also got to know contemporary artists, e.g. Syrian Anas Albraehe, Ukrainian Taras Loboda, etc. Eronen has also collaborated with Finnish contemporary visual artists, e.g. with the respected Naive painter Pirkko Pullinen-Valtonen. Surprisingly, there was also a clear resemblance to big megastars such as Bob Dylan, Yoko Ono, Marilyn, Janis Joplin, 007, Justiina, Severi Suhonen, Bob Geldof, etc. and the photographer threw himself into the shooting photos beside them with no fear!
Some of the shots are more serious art pictures and some are made more with a twinkle in the corner of the eye, but all with the aim of a strong feeling. There are about 280 art pictures ready, and only a small collection is displayed in each exhibition. MIMIK exhibitions have received a happy and positive reception.
Love it or get angry, it all depends on you 😊 The most important things are your feelings 😊
