Welcome to the Christmas season opening of Tampere on Saturday, November 22 at 4-5 p.m.
Come watch the joyful parade and celebrate the opening of Christmas season at Keskustori Square at late Saturday afternoon.
The traditional Christmas opening event brings together the residents of the area and offers a program to match the atmosphere.
The Christmas parade will start on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 4 pm from the Metso Library, continuing its journey through Hämeenpuisto to Kauppakatu and from there to Keskustori Square.
This year, the parade will have a record number of participants: you can follow it along the way and spot local elves and actors. The parade, led by Santa Claus and a horse-drawn carriage, will feature, among others, the Tampere Eagles brass band, furry animal friends, dancing elves and cultural actors.
Once the parade arrives at Keskustori (the Central Market Square) an atmospheric stage program will begin.
The Christmas opening speech will be given by Riikka Töytäri, executive director of Tampere Tunnetuksi ry. She will also start the count down of the seconds until the Christmas tree lights are turned on. Santa Claus and the Tampere University Singers will also be seen on stage.
The Old Church, some of the Tampere Christmas Market sales booths, and all restaurants will be open to the everyone.
The furry animal friends and Santa Claus will move to Laikku Park after the program to be greeted.
The event will be hosted by Tampere Christmas lover Ronja Alatalo.
