Home is where the heart learns to beat in peace—a soft, steady rhythm shaped by familiarity, safety, and belonging. But home is never still. It shifts and stretches as we move through new Places and States of mind, gathering new layers of meaning along the way.

Echoes of Two Homelands brings together Czech and Slovak artists living in Finland, each reflecting on how the sense of home transforms when shaped by more than one culture. Their works reflect the coexistence of multiple homelands, where People, memories, places, and lived experiences intertwine.

Rooted in Finland, yet shaped by the imprint of their first homeland, the artists create work that moves beyond national borders and speaks to universal human experience.

The exhibition invites viewers to pause and reflect on how home evolves over time—how it lingers in memory, adapts to new surroundings, and continues to shape identity in ways both visible and quietly profound.

The exhibition is split into three focal areas: People, Places and States of mind.

There are numerous accompanying events: four films, four workshops, and several discussion sessions.

The exhibition is organized by Bohemia-seura ry – a community that brings together Czechs and Slovaks living in Finland – together with Axamitum Moments Oy. The events are supported by the Embassiy of the Czech Republic in Helsinkim the Embassy of Slovak Republic in Finland, as well as companies Rödl and Vafo Group.

Bohemia-seura ry is a non-profit association founded in 1993. Its mission is to increase awareness of Czech and Slovak cultures, languages, societies, and histories among Finns and among people with Czech or Slovak roots.
