❄️⛸️ Family Winter Holiday Days in Raudanmaa – Outdoor Fun, Animals & Warm Indoor Activities
📅 Saturday 21 February and Friday–Saturday 27–28 February 2026
⏰ 10 am – 4 pm
📍 Raudanmaa, Kangasala – Pikkupiha Animal Yard & Village Hall Yard
There is no need to travel far during the winter holidays. In Finland, school winter holidays (“winter break”) are traditionally spent outdoors, enjoying snow, fresh air and simple activities together.
In Kangasala, Raudanmaa’s Pikkupiha hosts relaxed family-friendly winter holiday days, where outdoor play, animals and togetherness are at the heart of the experience ❄️💚
Come at your own pace – stay for a short visit or spend the whole winter day both outdoors and indoors.
🐐 Pikkupiha Animal Yard & Farm Animals
The Pikkupiha animal yard is open, and the animals bring joy and curiosity to the middle of a winter day.
You are welcome to visit the animals several times during the day – Finnish family events are informal, and moving freely between activities is encouraged.
(In Finland, small local animal yards are often part of community life and family events.)
⛸️🎿 Self-Guided Winter Activities Outdoors
The yard area offers relaxed, self-guided winter fun with no schedules or pressure:
ice skating at your own pace
a cross-country skiing track, weather permitting
snow play for the whole family
build a snow castle or snowman using buckets
ice fishing on Lake Längelmävesi is also possible – the shore is only about 300 m away
(Ice fishing is a common Finnish winter pastime, often enjoyed quietly and independently.)
👉 Please bring your own winter sports equipment:
skis
skates
ice fishing gear
🛷 Available to borrow on site:
sleds
shovels
buckets
skating supports for young beginners
(Borrowing shared equipment is common at Finnish community events and encourages spontaneous participation.)
🏰❄️ From the Cold Outdoors to Warm Indoor Spaces
When the cold bites or outdoor play has been enough, the sports hall offers warmth and activities:
a variety of indoor play options for children
space to move, play and relax
adults can take a break at Café Mäyrä
a warm place to recover before heading outside again
This creates a typically Finnish balance between outdoor activity and indoor rest 💙
💛 Why Visit?
✨ easy, low-threshold outdoor activities
✨ no strict schedules, no performance pressure
