Learn about ice safety at the Tampere Swimming Centre
This event offers a unique opportunity to try out or observe ice rescue techniques being practised in safe conditions at the swimming pool.
Finnish Swimming Teaching and Lifesaving Federation`s Ice Safety Tour is arriving at the Tampere Swimming Centre on Thursday, 20 November.
The event offers a unique opportunity to try out or observe "icy" rescue technique training in a safe environment at the swimming pool.
The floating ice raft offers a challenge for participants, especially when wearing overalls and boots. An additional challenge arises when you put on skis or dare to put on a motocross helmet, jump into the water, and rescue yourself onto a raft.
Under the guidance of an expert, you will learn how to rescue yourself from the ice and how the equipment actually works in a real situation.
Event program:
-Safe movement on ice, equipment, and how to use it.
-Safe steps to take when falling into the water and rescuing yourself onto the raft.
Equipment: Overalls, shoes, ice picks, backpacks, life jackets, and helmets are provided for the exercise. Bring a swimsuit and towel, as well as warm clothing for the pool (e.g., a T-shirt or extra towel).
The event is made possible by Finnish Swimming Teaching and Lifesaving Federation (SUH) and LähiTapiola Pirkanmaa.
