Are you interested in diversity and accessibility in communication? We give a voice to people with disabilities and hear their experiences of diverse communication.

The event "Communicating in Many Ways" is open to everyone interested in the topic: The event provides an understanding of diversity and different ways of communication, and offers peer support and tips for those who use diverse communication.

The event will discuss different ways of communication, such as Braille, plain language and sign language, and how they have changed in the lives of users over the decades. Students in related fields will benefit from the event, as well as those interested in history and communication.

Come listen to and discuss the topic with our experienced actors (we will announce it later). During Disability History Month, we want to raise important themes in the voices of people with disabilities. The main themes of the event are community, peer support and interest in history.

At the event, you will have the opportunity to try out Braille with LEGO® Braille Bricks and get to know the communication folder and the bliss language table.

Disability History Month is celebrated in Finland annually in September. The aim of Disability History Month is to encourage individuals, communities and various actors to discuss our common history from a disability perspective.

The event will be held at the meeting place Kupla, on the second floor of the Postal Museum. The space is accessible, peaceful and has soft lighting, which invites you to relax and focus on listening and conversation.
