Sydän Syttyvi Tulelle (Thine Heart Ablaze Burneth)

The acclaimed vocal ensemble NEÅ brings their stunning “Sydän syttyvi tulelle” concert to Tampere!

Originally created for the Värinää Festival in Järvenpää, this captivating program showcases a refined and elegant cross-section of NEÅ’s repertoire. The concert takes the audience on a rich emotional journey: from moments of quiet reflection in the heart of nature to the triumphant exhilaration of youth—echoing the ensemble’s success at the Tampere Vocal Music Festival. Along the way, it explores the most tender and profound dimensions of human experience, balancing intimacy, intensity, and stillness—while leaving space for something entirely new to emerge.

The concert takes its name from Harri Vuori’s song cycle “Sydän syttyvi tulelle – Four Songs from the Kanteletar,” premiered at the Värinää Festival. This evocative work, set to texts from the Kanteletar, forms a centerpiece of the Tampere performance.

In June 2025, NEÅ made history at the Tampere Vocal Music Festival by winning both first prize in the acoustic category and the prestigious Grand Prix—becoming the first Finnish ensemble to achieve this in over two decades. Their repertoire blends meticulously crafted arrangements of popular music with contemporary art music, brought to life through vibrant interpretations. Each performance highlights both the distinctive solo voices of the singers and the ensemble’s astonishingly precise and unified sound.
