The 22nd Tampere Guitar Festival offers concerts, club gigs and classical and flamenco guitar courses from 16 to 19 September. The festival is organised as part of the Tango–Guitar–Flamenco Week event. The aim of the three festivals' cooperation is to strengthen the activities of the events, reach new audiences and create interesting encounters between different art forms.
The virtuoso guitar duo Aniello Desiderio (ITA) & Zoran Dukić (CRO) will perform in Finland for the first time. Francisco Bernier (ESP) will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Manuel de Falla in his concert. Patrik Kleemola, meanwhile, will perform Spanish guitar classics on period instruments. The concerts will be organised at the Tampere Conservatory and the Pirkkala Old Church. The artists will also hold free classical guitar master classes.
On the weekend of 18 to 19 September The 360 Club, held at Galleria Himmelblau, will feature flamenco guitarist Joonas Widenius on Friday, along with singer Anna Murtola and dancer Ingrid Mugu (EST). The festival will culminate on Saturday with a jazz-tinged quartet led by guitarist Lassi Friman, also featuring Toomas Keski-Säntti (Rhodes), Antti Lötjönen (double bass) and Joonas Riippa (drums). The 360 Club’s special feature is a stage built in the middle of the hall, around which the audience can experience the performances in their own way.
TGF’s accompanying program will be held at Tampere Main Library Metso throughout the autumn. Musical outings will be held on 21 August, and the lecture concert series “540 years of guitar history” led by guitar artist Janne Malinen will be on the program from 29 September to 9 December.
A warm welcome to the festival!
