Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope solo dance piece is a playful, colourful, and touching exploration of the many reflections and wonders of being alive. It takes the audience on a journey through togetherness, joy, and a deep sense of gratitude.

The piece is inspired by an interview with a 95-year-old woman and her unique wisdom about life and living.

Blending traditional performance with moments of shared experience, the piece invites the audience to reconnect with their inner child – to play, to seek joy, to allow themselves to be open and unguarded, and to experience a sense of togetherness and unity.

“I think play means exploring, experimenting, being curious, looking, seeing, being in the body, being alive, not being afraid, free.” – Dot Fisher-Smith.

The performance gently blurs the line between performer and spectator. The audience is welcomed into a space of optional interaction and soft participation.

Kaleidoscope is not just a performance – it is the beginning of a lifelong artistic journey. Its mission is to follow the solo and the performer through time, documenting how both evolve and transform in parallel — ultimately journeying toward the age of 95.

This never fully finished work is a living creation, enriched by the passage of time and the process of aging, adding a magical layer to the project. The growing archive will serve as both a living memory and a space for reflection, allowing us to witness the unfolding transformation.

It is a wonder – just like a kaleidoscope.
