Plant dyed knit bag workshop

What a treat we have in store for you!

Welcome to join our plant dye + knitting workshop at Tampere Intercultural Art Space with natural dye artist Enni Heinä and fibre artist Riikka Peltola! 

The aim of the workshop is to provide you with the skills and ideas how to combine natural dyeing and knitting techniques to create your own unique small knit bag.

WORKSHOP PROGRAMME

Sat 14.6: with Enni’s instructions we will dye recycled wool yarns with a selection of plants to create your own color palette 

Sun 15.6: Riikka will instruct a variety of knitting patterns and techniques to create your own bag. We will begin the knitting process in the workshop.

You can choose between three designs created by Riikka & Enni, or you can make your own variation based on the techniques used. We will guide you through the design process. 

All participants are provided with recycled wool yarn enough for a small sized tote bag or a zipper purse. There will be a selection of dye plants to choose your colors: browns, reds, yellows and olive greens.

The skill level of the workshop is beginner/basic. We wish that you are familiar with knit and purl stitches, flat knit and circular knit. Prior experience in natural dyeing is not needed. All the materials and equipment are provided.
