12.9. Birding trip for families with children on Lake Iidesjärvi

Pirkanmaan lintutieteellinen yhdistys (Ornithological society) and Luontoliiton Hämeen piiri are jointly organizing a birding trip to Lake Iidesjärvi for families with children. The starting point is the western end of Iidesjärvi (Lokintaival 7) by the bridge and the trip involves walking at a leisurely pace for about 1.5 kilometers along accessible paths. This means that you can also participate with strollers. The trip starts and ends at the same place and you can come for the entire trip or just part of the trip, depending on the children's ability. The trip lasts a maximum of two hours. You can bring your own snacks. 

Iidesjärvi is a wonderful local nature destination and a migratory resting place for birds right next to the center of Tampere. In mid-September, waterfowl rest on the lake, a grey heron can be seen in the reeds, small birds are in the bushes looking for food and birds of prey can be seen circling in the sky. Let's observe birds seen and heard in the area and other nature together, taking into account the interests of the youngest members of the family. You can borrow binoculars from a guide if you don't have your own at home. The guides on the trip are Mikael Rytkönen from Pily and a volunteer assistant guide from Luontoliitto.

You don't need to register separately for the trip. 

In case of heavy rain or wind, the event may be postponed or cancelled. Information about changes will be posted on the Pily website's event calendar and on Facebook and Instagram event listings no later than the evening before.
