Osmo Honkanen, organist, plays Max Reger's organ works on the magnificent instrument built by the Kangasala organ factory in Aleksanteri Church.
Osmo Honkanen is a composer and church musician. Honkanen's compositional output covers orchestral, choral and chamber music, where works for organ or ensembles containing organ form a central part.
His works have been recorded and performed in concerts, on radio and television, in several European countries and outside Europe, including Israel and Japan. Honkanen has won composition competitions and won prizes in several national and international competitions in Finland and abroad.
From 1989 to 2017, Honkanen worked as a church musician at St. Michael's Parish in Helsinki. Since 2017, he has worked as the leading cantor of the Tampere Cathedral Parish.
