The Alt Agency Summer Sessions series returns to O'Connell's this summer!
On Saturday, July 11, the Joska Josafat duo and the Myrtsi duo will share the joy of music at O'Connell's.
Joska Josafat is known, among other things, for his Jätkäjätkät group, as well as for his solo material, which includes three albums of V.A. Koskenniemi's poetry material.
"...it is gratifying that singer, multi-instrumentalist Joska Josafat has taken it upon himself to compose and arrange no less than three albums of new songs to Koskenniemi's texts.
The albums can be listened to as imaginations of a world where the 1970s song movement and various institutions of pop and rhythm music would compete to praise Koskenniemi.
More than ingenious compositions or solo interpretations, Josafat's recordings are skillful arrangements. Whether the style is folk song, soul or airy synth pop, Josafat and his skilled musicians find the possibilities of the genre and the optimal atmosphere with disconcerting precision." - Helsingin Sanomat, 27.3.2026
Myrtsi is a project by Vaasa-born musician and producer Emma Uusi-Kokko, inspired by homemade aesthetics, Ostrobothnianism and Myrtsiys – cottage life with a twinkle in the corner of her eye. Despite the cottage life, play and fun are at the heart of the music. Myrtsi's lyrics combine everyday philosophical reflection, description and straightforwardness with a touch of irony, accompanied by harmonious melancholy and the joy of synasounds.
The debut single, "Maybe Autumn Will Change Everything," released in October, received a warm reception. The song was noted in Soundi magazine and on the radio (Ylex, Radio Helsinki). Positive attention has led to demand for new music.
Myrtsi's sound is strongly influenced by musician/producer Tiitus Wargelin, whose hand can be heard in the mixes of myrtsi's releases. Wargelin and Uusi-Kokko have known each other since elementary school. In addition to Wargelin, Uusi-Kokko's compositions are played live by pianist Sonja Kaipainen and double bassist Aaron Koskelainen.
All gigs in the series are K-18 and admission is free.
