Barriers and solutions to equality – criminal background and minority status

10.6.2026

12.30 - 16.00

Pääkirjasto Metso, Pirkankatu 2, 33210 Tampere

Welcome to an open discussion and creative workshop where we will discuss barriers to equality in the criminal sanctions sector - and develop solutions!

What is the situation of LGBTQ+ people during and after criminal sanctions in Finland? What about ethnic minorities or women? Come and hear about the report of the Syrjimättä project and discuss and ponder what we could do to improve equality during and after criminal sanctions. The event will feature Anni Karnaranta from the life without crime and Siiri Tukkiniemi from the Sinuiksi ry association. We will also use creative working methods under the guidance of solution-focused art therapist Tiina Hämäläinen. The event is aimed particularly at professionals and students in the fields of third sector, social work, health and criminal sanctions, as well as anyone interested in equality and human rights themes.
