Adults' Evening in Rulla

Children's Cultural Centre Rulla is located on the first floor of the Culture House Laikku. It is a colorful, stimulating, and grounding art and exhibition space. Normally, Rulla serves only children and families, but during Pride week, we open the doors exclusively for adults, for one night only. During the Adults' Evening, you can explore the exhibition and play areas in peace, rest, read, meditate, listen to audiobooks or music (with headphones), take a nap, and participate in a guided art workshop inspired by Tove Jansson's worldview and art.

In the Art workshop at 17, we will try painting with acrylics and mixed techniques and create our own artwork. The workshop celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Moomins and Tove Jansson's unique creativity and attitude towards life. Tove Jansson (1914–2001) was a writer, visual artist, and illustrator who loved work and life, and her production is a celebration of humanism, colors, and storytelling. She is best known as the creator of Moominvalley and the Moomin stories. Tove surrounded the Moomins with numerous friends – the community and the power of art carry the trolls through life. The message of Manse Pride 2025 "We are one big family" fits perfectly with Tove's stories about a safe place that can be called home. In the art workshop, we strengthen the feeling of hope, the importance of belonging, and the freedom of self-expression through art. The art workshop is led by visual artist Zeynep Kaynar / Tampere Intercultural Art.

The exhibition space at Rulla features the spring exhibition of the Handicraft and Design School Näpsä What on Earth? Fairytale Crafts.

The entrance to Rulla is from the end of Laikku facing Tampere Theatre. Outdoor shoes cannot be worn in Rulla; there is coat rack space and lockable lockers in the lobby. We kindly ask you to keep smart devices silent during the visit.

The evening concludes with Pride concert: Narrikoira & Kiukkupussy and Elsi Sloan at 19:00 on Laikunlava!

Free entry. Taking part in the art workshop is also free of charge.
