Exhibition by the research project ReCreate showcases circular building decommissioning and construction. Even the exhibition pavilions are made of reused concrete originating from the early 1980s.
Free science exhibition by the Tampere University -led international research project ReCreate demonstrates how buildings can be deconstructed and built adhering to the principles of the circular economy. Even the exhibition pavilions are made of reused precast concrete elements originating from the early 1980s, which were reclaimed from a decommissioned office building in Tampere city center and refurbished at a factory. Reclaimed and reused concrete elements are ultra low in carbon and can help to reduce the environmental impacts of construction, which are otherwise substantial. The exhibition displays videos, posters, objects and scale models about the project's circular (de)construction experiments and research results.
