Messages Tampere walking tour

Discover the city history of Tampere! How did post, railways, radio and telephones spread to Tampere and affect the city's growth and way of life?

On a guided tour of the Postal Museum, we will learn about the city history of Tampere from the perspective of communications and technological innovations. Almost 250 years old, Tampere has always been a center of communications and networks. The largest inland city in the Nordic region has grown thanks to industry and communication.

You can take photos of the views with your own phone. Participation in the photo shoot is voluntary. We will share the photos on the Postal Museum's social media channels. You can tag your photo with #viestientampere and we will share it.

The tour is free to enter, with the exception of the Tampere Events Night Tour on Thursday, August 6, which has an entrance fee.

The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Viestien Tampere route and accessibility

The guided tour starts in front of the main doors of the Vapriikki Museum Center and ends in the center of Tampere at Hämeenkatu 13, in front of the old Post Office. We will stop at Finlayson Palace Park, among other places.

• There is one threshold to cross on the tour at the gate leading to Finlayson Palace Park.
• It is possible to tour the accessible route independently, in which case one story will be missed.
• The tour is approximately two kilometers long.
