On Sunday, March 8, 2026, we will march again!
Come and celebrate International Women's Day 2026!
Women's issues and Women's Day are still essential. Female-dominated sectors are in a wage gap and women in general are paid less, work with worse conditions, and are more likely to work part-time or on a fixed-term contract. It is in our common interest to raise the issue of working women, because the poorer position of one group is a means of weakening general working conditions.
Organizing the Women's Day march in Tampere is particularly important now, as violence against women is increasing in Finland. Finland is the most dangerous country in the EU for women and more than half of women experience harassment, sexual or other violence. Although the most dangerous place for a woman is her own home, women are also subjected to significant levels of violence and sexual harassment in the workplace. In Pirkanmaa, we have also received several shocking news reports in a relatively short period of time about femicide and blatant violence against women in public places - misogyny is a societal phenomenon.
Come join us for the Women's Day march on Sunday, March 8th! More detailed information will be updated closer to the date.
