Markus Jokela (b. 1952) worked as a journalist, photo editor, and photographer at Helsingin Sanomat from 1983 to 2019. He has received the Finnish State Prize for Photographic Art (1990), several World Press Photo awards (1993, 2002, 2017), as well as the Photojournalist of the Year titles (2015, 2016). Since 1987, Jokela has held numerous solo and group exhibitions, and his works are included in the collections of, among others, Museet for Fotokunst (Odense), the Finnish Museum of Photography, Helsinki Art Museum, and the Finnish State Art Collection.


Jokela's photographs on display from October 18 to November 16 at Nykyaika Gallery in the exhibition Moments and Landscapes of Minor Importance.
