Welcome to celebrate the third Disability Pride in Tampere! The goal of the event is to show that being disabled is no shame. This year's theme is disability rights and invisible disabilities.

IN PLAIN LANGUAGE:

Welcome to celebrate Tampere's third Disability Pride! The event is organized by the Tampere volunteers of the human rights organization Amnesty International.

The purpose of the event is to show that disability is not a cause for shame. Disabled people are not wrong and invisible. Disabled people are part of Finnish society. This year, the main theme is invisible disabilities and disabling diseases. We are also celebrating the fact that in June the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has been in force in Finland for 10 years.

The speeches will be interpreted into sign language.

1:00 PM Short march from the fountain in the Central Square to the Kumppanuustalo Arttel.

All participants must follow the principles of a safer space. The principles are:

1. Respect the personal physical and mental space of others. For example, ask before touching another person. Listen and change your behavior if your behavior makes someone uncomfortable.

2. Respect everyone. Do not assume the characteristics of others. These include:

- sexuality

- gender

- nationality

- religion

- values

- education and wealth

- functional ability

- health

Address people by the names and words they ask you to use. Be aware of your own privileges, such as wealth and skin color.

3. Respect the opinions and experiences of others. Do not ridicule or embarrass others.

4. Be responsible for your own actions and behavior. We can affect the well-being of others when we also consider other people.

5. Give space to others. Try to ensure that everyone can participate.

6. If you see harassment, report it to the organizers. You can also ask if the target of the harassment needs help or support.

Come join us in celebrating the visibility and belonging of people with disabilities!
