Broken Heart Story

Broken Heart Story explores experiences that exceed one’s capacity to endure, the conflict between reason and emotion, and the problems that arise when a person denies their deepest needs. This leads to absurd situations in which a person behaves like a broken toy.

At the beginning of the play, the Writer is lost because their Soul has left them. The Writer wants to create serious, respectable art, while the Soul travels the world chasing men and makeup. The atmosphere of the performance blends humor and threat, the everyday and the dreamlike, black-and-white cinema and Twin Peaks.

The performance is directed by Veera Vaa, a writer, workshop facilitator, and cultural producer. She is drawn to challenging themes and draws inspiration from her own experiences. Broken Heart Story shows that as long as reason and emotion remain separated, the result is only suffering and a sense of emptiness.

The performance rights are managed by Nordic Drama Corner.
