Exhibition Opening – Artists O: When the Time Comes

Artists O: WHEN THE TIME COMES - exhibition opening in Gallery 2 at Pirkkala Main Library (Suupantori 2, Pirkkala) on Thursday 4 June 2026 at 5-6.30 pm.

Harri Piispanen will present the performance It´s a Job at the opening. In the performance the artist rests in a coffin he has made for himself. During the performance, the audience can be quiet by the coffin or chat with the "deceased".

The artists of the works in the exhibition will also be available to meet.

The When the Time Comes exhibition challenges our established perceptions of the visual culture of death. The exhibition features art related to death, burial and memorial services. The theme is not tied to a specific religion or culture. Through art, a new way of discussing death and funerals, as well as remembering and respecting the deceased, can be opened, whether it is a question of non-denominationalism, religion(s) or even belief in goblins and angels.

The exhibition was first shown in autumn 2025 at the Stoa Gallery in Helsinki.

The curator of the exhibition, Petri Kaverma (KuT), aims to create a dialogue between works and different environments. In his postdoc research in the area of critical design, he has addressed the cultural and visual aspects of death and sought to find new solutions for meeting the public.
