Ansa kengänpauloissa is a children's book illustrated by Johanna Pekkala and written by Elina Komulainen. The book tells the story of starting school, learning new skills, excitement and how learning together and with small things can create many important and safe connections between a child and an adult. Ansa has just started school, but she is upset because her shoelaces do not obey. She cannot tie them. Ansa is also preoccupied by her mother, who lives in her own thoughts, and her piles of papers. The book is a warm description of taking on the role of a schoolchild and finding a connection with her parent.Ansa kengänpauloissa is Johanna Pekkala's first published children's book illustration. Johanna has illustrated the book by hand, combining watercolor, gouache and woodblock prints. Elina Komulainen's text and Johanna's delicate and expressive paintings bring the child's world of experience vividly close. The book is suitable for ages 5–9 and is published by Lenninsiivet. The original works are mainly painted in sizes of 21 x 29 cm and 29 x 42 cm.
