1943. Alma, who lost her son on the Eastern Front in Germany, receives an invitation from Hitler to visit him. It is the first trip abroad for this mother of 13 children. Even the plane on which the relatives of the SS men board in Malmi is an incredible sight for Alma.
2023. Alma's great-granddaughter Ilona is a professional pilot. She comes across letters sent by Alma from her trip and is shocked by the admiring tone with which Alma describes everything she sees. When Ilona's only child, the Finnish-Russian Aku, disappears, Ilona fears that her son has also left to seek his own path in life.
